The uribismo, winner in parliamentary elections of Colombia and big loser, the Pole of Petro

The uribismo, the party of ‘Her Or’ has been the big winner of the electoral contest in Colombia in the configuration of the new Senate. In the second and third place, the parties Conservative and Liberal, respectively, the majority forces. With this electoral process of legislative or parliamentary (period from 2010 to 2014) reckons for the election of 102 senators, 166 representatives to the Chamber, five members of the Andean Parliament and the presidential candidates of the parties Conservative and Green chosen by this route, with the exception of Juan Manuel Santos whose candidacy to the Presidency of Colombia is already official.

But he has emphasized the slowness to give the results and the testimonies of the voters recount the big complications in the way of voting which caused many annulled votes.

The big loser is the Alternative Democratic Pole and Gustavo Petro had to recognize it. As for the conservatives Noemi Sanín and Aryans in any moment the tie is defined.

To understand these elections
“In 2010 the presidential elections will be carried out, by means of the cualesel people chooses the president and vice-president of the Republic. The definition of the presidential elections in Colombia is pormayoría absolute, by what the second electoral return is foreseen in case no candidate obtains any more than 50 % of the votes in firstly. The first return of the elections for president will take place in May, 2010, of giving him the second return this one will be carried out a few months after this date. Also, in 2010 they take place the legislative elections or also called parliamentary, by means of which the citizenship chooses senators and representatives before the Congress. The coalition uribista supported the majority in the Senate

Before ten o'clock on Sunday night, it was corroborated that ‘the U’ and the conservatives will be the 'bosses' of the next Congress, since two forces uribistas managed close to 50 per cent of the chairs of this corporation. They will only need that another small party joins them to have the qualified majority.

As well as the results consolidate them like the proprietors of the next Congress, the same figures turn them into direct competitors in the presidential elections, since two communities stayed sufficiently strong as to feel with the right to gain the presidential tiquete.

Juan Manuel Santos, leader of ‘the U’, went out to receive the victory of his party, on having said that it had passed Colombia forward, the campaign of the ex-ambassadress made public a bulletin in which it affirmed that the delays him are “opening the doors to the deslegitimación of the result”.

The worst of the day was the electoral organization: the persons had difficulties to find his voting positions, because they were moved the majority to covered enclosures, and the electoral results were not delivered on time. It is got in ahead, the shape of the House of Representatives was the whole chaos.

The Sunday day left other significant facts: Antanas Mockus achieved the victory in the consultation of the Green Party, on also ex-mayors of Bogota Enrique Peñalosa and Luis Eduardo Garzón. It was a good result in Bogota, but dweeb in the rest of the country.

Those who were not lucky were Sergio Fajardo, since his proposal to shape a selection Colombia for the Senate did not convince the electorate, and the Democratic Pole that lost curules and lowered the voting in Bogota, his principal political square in the last 8 years.

Cambio Radical, the party of Germán Vargas Lleras, was supported between five principal political forces of the Senate, but it was overcome by the PIN, the community that was criticized for 'recruiting' several relatives of the called 'parapolíticos'.

The best of the whole day, apart from the results that stop winning and losing, is that that of Sunday was a calm day. Historically there were the most pacific elections, since only small disadvantages of public order appeared in Cauca and alone Sipí, in Chocó, it remained without voting, because the urns did not come.

Electoral facts

On having voted, the disinformation and the absence of clarity prevailed during the whole electoral day. Many people did not know if it was possible or not to vote in both consultations (Conservative and Green). In other cases, the citizens were saying that they did not know what the Andean Parliament was.

In Santa Marta the principal spot of the day was the scarce circulation of buses and taxis, since they were hired the majority by the political campaigns. In Bogota, they said to a voter that he was dead. “They say to me, even, that they did autopsy to me. I am alive and pay taxes”, Alfonso Gutiérrez argued. The same happened in the capital of Magdalen, where, for flaws in the system of the Registraduría, the sufragante was appearing like deceased.

In Algeciras (Huila), region where the level of participation in previous elections only has reached 20 per cent, because of the violence, this time almost 40 per cent did it thanks to the safety restored by the Police and the Army.
On the border with Venezuela, the Colombians who reside there devised them to cross the border and power to vote. By-paths and ways between the weeds were the most used routes.
